K-TEL’s SUPERBAD ALBUM –
WHERE IT ALL STARTED
It all began back in 1975 when I was just 6 years old. My Dad owned the K-Tel ‘Super Bad’ album in his small record collection (which was very varied, to say the least!) I also remember a wooden, four legged, all-in-one record player that was the size of a small snooker table pushed right up against one of the lounge walls. It had a built in cassette deck, an AM/LW and FM tuner with huge pre-set silver buttons and of course… the turntable!
I was indeed excited about how this wooden constructed table of mechanics played the plastic, flexible, circular object, but I watched my Dad use this device many times, so I thought I would have a go myself.
I couldn’t stop playing the ‘Super Bad’ album, to the point where I recently went to play it and it was unplayable! Discogs sorted that and within two days the Postman delivered a nice, square package, which I duly unwrapped to find a box fresh, mint, original LP.
It still has all the ingredients that made me feel happy and content all those years ago. I loved all the Soul and Funk elements that this album had to offer. This LP planted the seed that grew into an uncontrollable vinyl addiction… thank you Super Bad – I now have meaning to my life!
Welcome to the SOUND OF SUPERBAD. I hope our music is as inspirational to you as this album was to me, all those years ago.
